What is in the vial
Each vial holds 3 mL of water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, as stated on the label. The alcohol slows the growth of bacteria that might enter when the stopper is punctured, so the same vial can be drawn from more than once.
The glass vial is sealed with a bromobutyl rubber stopper and an aluminium crimp cap. The label reads "Bac Water 3 mL". Unopened, it keeps for 24 months at room temperature, between 15 and 25 °C and away from light.
